Best Places to Drink in Buffalo

What is the best bar in Buffalo? There are countless options for places to enjoy a cocktail or nice glass of wine in WNY. With the warm weather here, it’s the perfect time to explore the local bar scene, from happy hour favorites to late night hot spots.

Vera Pizzeria

220 Lexington Ave., Buffalo, NY 14222

The true delight of Vera is not its pizza, but rather, pre-prohibition era cocktails. For $10 apiece, you get what you pay for. Try going on a weeknight for happy hour if it’s your first time visiting, and then go back on a Saturday night around 11:00 p.m. Go early for your best chance at a seat. Finish the evening with some fare from the Black Market Food Truck, which visits most Saturday nights.

Mike A at the Lafayette

391 Washington St., Buffalo, NY 14203

Mixologist, sommelier and bar manager, Tony Rials, creates incredible cocktails with the fixings made in-house. With an impressive selection of whiskey, scotch and more, this bar is as well stocked as it is beautiful. The house originals section of the menu offers cocktails with playful combinations, such as “Growns Up” (gin, house-made tonic, grapefruit, charteuse-yerba mate ice) and the standards include modern takes on classics. It’s great for happy hour downtown, and if you’re dining at Mike A’s, it’s worth arriving early for a drink.

Trattoria Aroma

307 Bryant St., Buffalo, NY 14222

5229 Main St., Williamsville, NY 14221

4840 North French Rd., East Amherst, NY 14051

Trattoria Aroma has three locations, including one in the Elmwood Village, one in Williamsville and another in East Amherst, its newest location. Each has a remarkable bar with a wonderful array of options. The restaurants boast lengthy wine menus, and the Bryant location’s list is divided into each region from Italy where the wine originates.

Més Que

1420 Hertel Ave., Buffalo, NY 14216

Més Que is a hip soccer bar with a hearty beer list and a welcoming vibe worth noting. Including both international options and local favorites, the bar is made for grabbing a beer and watching a game. The bar has a friendly atmosphere for making new friends and a nice patio for Buffalo’s warm months.

Blue Monk

727 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo, NY 14222

Blue Monk has an extensive menu of craft beer, including 30 taps and bottled beverages. Grab an order of duck frites to help keep you going while enjoying your beer. During summer, check out the back for a seat in the beer garden.
